A Chicken Story When our Jada was but 4 months old, She decided that she wanted to taste the chicken bones that the family was trying so hard to keep out of her reach. Knowing full well that we didn't want her to have them, Jada jump up and grabbed one from my youngest son and quickly swallowed it whole. This frightened me. My husband tried to dispose of the last bones before she could see them, but she was too fast. Jada grabbed another bone as it was going into the garbage can. Before my husband could grab her to retrieve the bone, she swallowed it whole. I called the vet the next day and she told me to bring her in because if the bone gets stuck in her intestines, they would have to be surgically removed. She didn't seem to be in any discomfort. The vet could not feel the bones so there was no emergency to do surgery. We were told to watch her and her stool to see if she would pass the bones. After a few weeks we did notice bones in her stool. What a relief! Now we don't even let her in the house when we eat chicken. I don't know if I would have been able to take it if she had had to have surgery. Jada is just like the daughter I don't have. I have 3 boys and wanted a girl so badly. She came as Jada my Malamute/Shepherd mix. She is beautiful.
